Center City Bar Gets National Recognition

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Square 1682 in Center City is featured in Friday's USA Today travel section.
Matthew Rafferty, General Manager at Square 1682 in the Palomar Hotel, says a few months ago, the folks from USA Today came out for a visit:
"They pulled our name and said 'hey, lets take a look.' They did and decided that we were worthy to be one of the nominations!"

Square 1682 was one of 20 nominated bars across the country and Rafferty believes the deciding factor was their recently completed renovations:
"We were gonna renovate anyway and make it more efficient, better, more warm, more welcoming, more open; and with that, we took the opportunity to revamp our current bar programs and cuisine programs through chef de cuisine Caitlin Mateo also."
As it turns out, patrons love Square 1682 who voted it the top hotel bar in the country.
"We're number one! We're freaking number one! Like we're number one top hotel bar in the country for USA Today travel. That's pretty incredible!" Rafferty said.
He adds Square 1682 has many Facebook fans, and he wanted to thank everyone who voted.
