Medical Marijuana Facility Expected To Open in Bellmawr, NJ in February

By Kim Glovas

BELLMAWR, N.J. (CBS) -- A growing and distribution center for medical marijuana will soon be located in Bellmawr (Camden County), NJ.  The business plan has been approved by the state, which says the facility will be up and running by next February.

Compassionate Sciences Alternative Treatment Center has announced that it will be opening a dual facility in Bellmawr in about six months, including  a state-of-the-art high tech medical office to treat patients.

"Secondly, we'll have a cultivation center," says spokesman Andrei Bogolubov.  "This is an advanced indoor growing facility where the actual medicine is grown, produced, cultivated, and prepared for distribution to patients."

Currently, about 1,200 people are registered patients for medical marijuana in New Jersey.  Bogolubov says the number eligible is close to 30,000.

He says medicinal marijuana is an analgesic which can help patients deal with chronic pain from cancer, multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, and more.
