Mounted Patrol Officer Struck By Vehicle In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A mounted patrol officer was injured after being struck by a vehicle in North Philadelphia Thursday night.

Chopper 3 HD was over the scene at about 9:30 p.m. at Rising Sun Avenue and N. 9th Street.

Philadelphia police say a 25th District officer officer assigned to mounted patrol was rear ended by a vehicle. The officer was taken to Temple University Hospital with minor scrapes and bruises.  The officer is listed in stable condition and is expected to be treated and released.

The horse suffered cuts and bruises and will be evaluated by a veterinarian.

The driver remained at the scene.
