PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – About 70 protestors with the Syrian American Council took to Independence Mall on Friday afternoon to protest the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government on Syrian rebels.
The silent protest went on for about two hours.
The demonstrators held signs to voice their frustration about what is going on in Syria and how the United States is responding.
“We just wanted to urge Mr. Obama to act upon the promise that he made and the red line that he drew,” said one demonstrator.
Eyad Takiedine is a member of the Syrian American Council.
He stood with his fellows protestors as they held signs that read things like “Where do we draw the red line” and “1600 choke to death on toxic gases in one day.”
“We just wanted to show the signs and hopefully the people will aware of what’s going on just by the pictures speaking for themselves,” said Takiedine.
During the protest they urged passersby to get involved by reaching out to their state senators and representatives and asking them to take on this issue.
