PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Steely Dan bring their classic rock hits to the Mann Center on Saturday, Sept. 21st.

Listen to the podcast below…

“Besides writing these pop songs, they were really a jazz rock band. A lot of their stuff was based on really sophisticated musicianship, jazz progression and really heavy R&B influences…it really set them apart from their contemporaries,” says AEG Live promoter John Hampton.

Donald Fagen and Walter Becker have been core members in addition to the cast of revolving musicians. Steely Dan’s popularity peaked in the seventies with the release of seven albums.

“What you’re going to see that night in September is they’re going to span their entire collection of songs, from the hits that you hear to deeper cuts for real fans. It’s going to span the last 40 years of their whole career,” Hamtpon explains.
