Phillies Claim Outfielder Casper Wells Off Waivers
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Phillies added an outfielder today, claiming Casper Wells off waivers from the Chicago White Sox. There will be a corresponding roster move before this weekend's series with the Washington Nationals.
"Casper is someone that we've had our eye on since spring training," general manager Ruben Amaro said via press release. "He's a versatile outfielder who adds depth to our club and can be a power threat off the bench."
Wells, 25 years-old, has played for the White Sox and A's this season, hitting .155 in 73 at bats. He has not hit a home run this season, and has driven in one run.
