Residents Displaced After House Collapses In West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A vacant house, set for demolition, partially collapsed in West Philadelphia Thursday.

The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. at the 3600 block of Fairmount Avenue in the Mantua section.

No injuries were reported and there was no damage to the adjoining properties.

Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.

Ten residents of nearby homes were displaced before being allowed back in Thursday night. The Red Cross was on scene to assist them.

Authorities say the house was scheduled to be demolished today.
