Cops: Pennsylvania Man Hammered Dad To Death Before Stealing Drug Money

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) -- A Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges that he murdered his father with a hammer before breaking into his safe and stealing money to buy drugs.

Online court records don't list an attorney for 31-year-old Jonathan Kuzma, of Johnstown, who was jailed without bond pending a hearing Thursday on criminal homicide, robbery and other charges.

Johnstown police say Kuzma has acknowledged hitting his 52-year-old father, John P. Kuzma, with a hammer and then stabbing him on Friday.

Police say the suspect took cash, prescription drugs, and a handgun before he drove away in his father's car.

Police say Kuzma then drove to several locations trying to buy heroin, while also alerting his family that he had killed his father.

Police found the car and were able to arrest Kuzma without incident.
