MILLSBORO, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal home invasion in Millsboro that left a 41-year-old man dead.

Officers were called to a home on North Berry Bramble Falls early Thursday after a woman reported that two men entered her home demanding money, then shot her boyfriend and fled. Police said it’s unclear if the men took anything valuable. The 39-year-old woman was not injured.

Authorities identified the dead man as James L. Rickards.

State police said detectives have determined through preliminary interviews and investigation that the home invasion was not a random act, and that Rickards may have been targeted.

Police said the intruders were both wearing dark clothing and baseball caps and used bandanas to cover the lower parts of their faces.
