Sleepy Pennsylvania Mom Jailed After Toddler Found In Road -- Twice

HOOKSTOWN, Pa. (AP) -- A Pennsylvania woman has been jailed on child endangerment charges after police say her 2-year-old daughter was twice found on the road near the woman's home.

Online court records don't list an attorney for 37-year-old Amy Sickelsmith, of Hanover Township.

State police in Beaver say a woman called them to say she found Sickelsmith's 2-year-old daughter sitting in the middle of Route 151 in front of Sickelsmith's home about 10:20 a.m. Sunday.

The woman recognized the girl and took her home, but police say another motorist saw the girl on the road about 11:45 a.m. and called police.

Police say they determined Sickelsmith was sleeping on both occasions. She allegedly told police she blocked the door with a chair, but the child somehow got outside.
