Important Tips For Staying Safe, Even In Slightly Cooler Temperatures
By Dr. Brian McDonough
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Even though the temperature is much better now, and we are getting into a cooler phase, at least for a while, the elderly still need to be careful.
If you haven't looked in on an elderly relative or neighbor, make sure you check them out.
That's because they could be in a situation where they're taking medications that could be acting a little bit differently if they're dehydrated or if they've been in temperatures that have been excessive.
Remember, some people on a limited budget will not be using air conditioning or may not have the ability to have air conditioning.
They could be using a fan with the window down.
Numerous problems can occur when you add medications to that mix.
It can become a bigger issue, especially in the elderly.
