HAVERTOWN, Pa., (CBS) – A man was struck and killed by a passing SEPTA train in Delaware County Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say a 49-year-old man was hit by a Norristown High Speed Line train at around 3:20 in the afternoon near the Penfield Station in Haverford Township.

Chopper 3 HD was over the scene as rescue crews responded.

The victim has not been identified. A SEPTA spokeswoman says early indications are this was a freak accident and not suspicious or a possible suicide.

The accident forced shuttle bus service on the Norristown High Speed Line for three hours.

The incident is under investigation.
