Instagram Takes On Vine With New Video Sharing Tool

By: Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The popular photo sharing app Instagram, owned by Facebook, is taking a swipe at Twitter's Vine app by launching their own video sharing tool.

But will it lead to a serious battle in the video-sharing war?

"It seems like a direct shot just because Vine is the biggest and they're doing it the best right now," said Lou Perseghin, Client Service Manager for local social media marketing agency ChatterBlast.

How different are these video sharing platforms? Perseghin says they're just different enough.

"The length of the videos, the way you create them is different, the ability to select your cover piece is great for keeping the aesthetic of Instagram, but the Vine platform has a different feel. It feels more raw and natural," said Perseghin.

So we will just have to wait and see if Instagam video will weed out Vine.
