Driver Charged In Fatal Crash On Longport Bridge

MAYS LANDING, N.J. (AP) — Vehicular homicide charges have been filed against a southern New Jersey man who allegedly was driving drunk when his pickup truck crashed head-on into another vehicle.

Atlantic County prosecutors say bail was set at $50,000 for Kyle Fuss, a 22-year-old Hamilton Township resident who was injured in the May 24 crash in Egg Harbor Township. The charges were filed Friday.

Authorities say Fuss' truck crossed the center line of the Longport bridge and collided head-on with a sport utility vehicle driven by 70-year-old Thomas Hayes of Brigantine. Hayes and his 69-year-old wife, Patricia, had to be extricated from the front seat of their vehicle.

Thomas Hayes died one day after the crash, while his wife was treated for undisclosed injuries.

A telephone number for Russ could not be located Saturday.
