Women To Get Tips On Climbing The Corporate Ladder At Leadership Breakfast

By Cherri Gregg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Women leaders from the greater Philadelphia area will get tips tomorrow on how to "lean in" and move up the corporate ladder.

Titled, "Beyond the Glass Ceiling: Mentoring Women Leaders", the annual breakfast will bring together a list of powerful female executives who will share their stories of success on the climb to the top in Corporate America.

"Retaining women in the middle part of their careers has been a challenge," says Wayne Kaplan, managing partner of the Philadelphia office of accounting firm Grant Thornton. Kaplan says the group has hosted the breakfast for the past nine years, with the hope of increasing the number of women in leadership roles.

"First, we're demonstrating to our own women in our organization that we take thought leadership on this topic as a serious initiative," he says, "and number two, to get the message out that this should be a critical issue with all employers in the Philadelphia region."

The event takes place Wednesday morning at the Union League and is open to both women within and outside of Grant Thornton.
