2 Teens Rescued From Pennypack Creek In Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Two teenagers were rescued from the Pennypack Creek in Northeast Philadelphia on Monday evening.

The incident happened at about 5 p.m. near Winchester Avenue and Woodward Street in Winchester Park.

Chopper 3 HD was over the scene as crews responded.

A 13-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy were attempting to wade across the creek.  They managed to become stranded, and grabbed on to a rock.

A 14-year-old girl who stayed on shore was able to flag down an off-duty police officer who called police and fire crews who rescued the children.

The two victims were taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children for evaluation.  They were not seriously hurt.
