Local Group Holds Speak Easy To Benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation

By Justin Udo

PHILADLEHIA (CBS) - The Lemon Society of Philadelphia is hosting a 20's themed speakeasy to benefit the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

The speakeasy event, at the Pyramid Club, encourages folks to dress up in 20's themed clothing, get down to some modern music mixed prohibition era songs and drink some spirits.

"Bartenders from area restaurants and bars are mixing up lemon inspired cocktails. Attendees can go around, try the cocktails and vote on their favorite," says Lyndsey Bues, chair of the Lemon Society of Philadelphia.

She says this night isn't just about partying and socializing.

"We'll be able to present a check to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation and those funds go toward funding a childhood cancer symposium and also to fund a post grant," Bues explains.

She says with their fundraising last year, they were able to donate more than $44,000 to Alex's Lemonade Stand.

She says it looks like they'll double that this year.
