FBI On Trail of Serial Bank Robber Operating in Philadelphia Suburbs

By Mark Abrams

AMBLER, Pa. (CBS) -- The FBI is seeking the public's help in finding a serial bank robber whom they believe hit at least four different banks in Bucks and Montgomery counties within the past several months.

FBI officials say the bandit last struck on March 30th at the PNC Bank on South Bethlehem Pike in Ambler, Pa. (top photo).

They also believe he's connected to the January 18th robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank in Yardley (right), last September's robbery of the First Federal Bank in Wrightstown (below), and last June's hold-up at the Colonial American Bank in Horsham.

"The subject covered his face with a black ski mask or a white pillowcase sack with the eyeholes cut out," says Joe Bushner, an FBI supervisor based in Fort Washington, Pa.   "In three of the four bank robberies he has has dressed in a jacket and tie, although in the fourth one he wore a grey, hooded sweatshirt and sneakers."

Bushner says the robber has also worn latex gloves, sunglasses, safety glases, and a large-brimmed straw hat.

In each case, Bushner says, the man showed a small, black semi-automatic handgun that at times was in a shoulder holster.
