Philadelphia Bank Embezzler Can't Stop Lying

By Tony Hanson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)  --  A former South Philadelphia bank manager, who lied her way to a one day sentence in a half million dollar embezzlement case is in trouble again.

Katherine Harrel has been ordered to report for supervision at a half-way house residential facility today.

After the earlier embezzlement sentencing, Harrell was charged with lying to the court at sentencing.

She claimed she had no parents, her brother suffered catastrophic injuries in a car accident and she was his sole caretaker.

These were all lies, and she later pleaded guilty.

While awaiting sentencing in that case, set for next month, a probation officer reports Harrell has failed drug tests and failed to show up for treatment.

Harrell also claimed her dad was having a mini-stroke.

That was not true.

Harrell showed for a court hearing last week swearing up and down she was clean of drugs.

Judge Eduardo Robreno ordered an immediate drug test

She failed that drug test too.

Judge Robreno told Harrell the time has come to draw the line.
