WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Officials say three people were hospitalized after a police chase in Delaware.
The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. in Wilmington at 6th and Greenhill Avenues.
According to officials, police tried to pull a black Acura over, but the driver, 37-year-old Leon Wilson, failed to stop, resulting in a police chase.
Police say the chase was called off due to high speeds, but Wilson continued to drive at a high rate of speed down Greenhill Avenue.
Authorities report that the Acura was hit by a white Toyota pickup truck when it crossed into Pennsylvania Avenue; after the impact, the Acura spun, hit a traffic pole and split into two pieces. Police say the front passenger was ejected from the car while Wilson attempted to flee on foot, but was arrested after a short foot chase.
Wilson and the driver of the Toyota were taken to Christiana Hospital and released; the passenger of the Acura was also taken to Christiana Hospital and is in stable condition.
Investigators say the passenger of the Acura will not be charged, however Wilson is currently on probation and has a warrant out for his arrest in New Castle County Superior Court.
Police say Wilson is being held a Wilmington Police Headquarter where further charges are pending.
