Man Found Fatally Shot On Kensington Street

By Jenn Bernstein

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching for whoever fatally shot a man in Kensington late Monday evening.

Police say just after 11:30 p.m., a 911 call came into police reporting shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found a male in his early to mid 20's lying on his back in the 3400 block of J Street.

The victim was shot multiple times in the back and the torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"We did find some ballistic evidence around the corner, on Estaugh Street. We believe that's where the shooting may have started. And the victim ran south on J Street where he collapsed," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Homicide detectives searched the area and checked for witnesses as they collected potential evidence at the scene.

There is one thing they're hoping will help solve this homicide.

"We did find several businesses in the immediate area with private surveillance cameras, so hopefully they recorded some or all of this incident," said Small.
