NJ National Guard Unit To Conduct Mortar Training
FORT DIX, N.J. (AP) — People who live near New Jersey's Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst might hear some explosions over the weekend.
A New Jersey National Guard unit from Riverdale is scheduled to conduct mortar firing training between Friday and Sunday.
The base says those living nearby might hear more noise than usual and may feel the ground shaking.
Seven Marines were killed late Monday when a mortar shell exploded in its firing tube during an exercise at Hawthorne Army Depot in Nevada.
