Sugarloaf Crafts Festival Touches Down In Montgomery County

By Brad Segall

OAKS, Pa. (CBS) - A successful crafts festival, that travels the country year round touting its "Made in America" experience, is pulling into Montgomery County to showcase many one of a kind works.

The Sugarloaf Crafts Festival sells itself with more than 250 artisans, all showcasing their unique style for thousands to enjoy and buy.

There's everything from pottery, sculptures and glass to jewelry, fashion, furniture and home accessories.

The show puts down stakes at the Expo Center in Oaks twice a year so owner and founder Deann Verdier says they have to keep it fresh.

"We expect the artists that show with us every year to come up with something new because the first question the public asks is what's new and if you don't have something new they're not going to buy from you," says Verdier.

What makes this show unusual, Verdier says, is the ability to meet and talk to the people who are creating the art and find out their inspiration behind their ideas.

The festival runs through Sunday.
