NARBERTH, Pa. (CBS) - Britt Benner found more than just snow when she went outside her Narberth home to shovel a couple weeks ago.

There, under the ice, was a wet envelope full of money — lots of money, hundreds of dollars.

Benner, after checking with neighbors, immediately took the cash to Narberth Police, but so far, the person who lost it hasn’t come forward.

In an exclusive interview, Benner, a mom who is studying chemistry at college, says it appears the bills may have been a payment or perhaps a gift.

Narberth police officer Kelly Lynn, who asked we not identify the amount or denominations of the bills or the description of the envelope, details known only to the owner, asks that person to please come forward to reclaim their cash.

“It’s just great that someone is out here to do the right thing for once,” Officer Lynn said.

And beyond Mrs. Benner’s honesty, there is her generosity.

She says if the money isn’t claimed, she is donating every penny to the Narberth 4th of July fireworks celebration.

If you have information about the cash, which appears to have been lost during the first week of February, call Narberth Police at 610-664-8160.
