TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – Police say they’ve arrested a man they believe is responsible for a string of robberies at a Berwyn grocery store, including one involving a Girl Scout Troop back in January (see previous story).
Jevon Michael Avis, a 31-year-old formerly of Tredyffrin, was arrested on Feb. 26th after an investigation connected him to the robbery spree.
Police say he not only stole money from a Girl Scout Troop that was selling cookies outside a Pathmark on Jan. 20, but also returned to the store to steal about $116 of merchandise in February. When he was confronted by store employees, Avis left the items outside his car and fled the scene.
Police say Avis also snatched a purse at the Pathmark on the morning of Feb. 25th.
Avis was identified and arrested and reportedly confessed to the crimes. He will be charged with robbery and related crimes connected to the January robbery of the Girl Scouts.
