PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Rallies were held around the world today including here in Philadelphia demanding an end to violence against women. Hundreds turned out in LOVE Park in Center City to show their support.
The gathering is part of a global movement called “One Billion Rising.”
The name is based on daunting statistics, according Amanda Aronoff, Executive Director of Women’s Way.

“One in three women will be raped or beaten in her lifetime; that is one billion women in this world. These are just staggering numbers and we are here to say enough is enough,” says Aronoff.
Organizers say one billion women violated is an atrocity. One billion women dancing is a revolution.
“So we are here to dance,” Aronoff says, so a couple hundred moved to the beat for a Zumba class in LOVE park.
