Delaware Courthouse Reopens With 'Free Hugs And Coffee'
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Just days after a deadly shooting shut down the New Castle County Courthouse, the building reopened on Thursday – with some uplifting freebies.
Members of the Mayor's Office along with leaders in the community gathered at the courthouse to welcome employees and guests with free coffee and hugs.
The initiative, which was spearheaded by Ken Grant and Will Minster of Downtown Visions, aimed to be a small act of kindness and compassion.
"This sort of warm and kind gesture is the first step in the healing process for our city," said Wilmington mayor Dennis P. Williams.
The courthouse reopened Thursday morning after a shooter killed two people inside on Monday.
