NORTH COVENTRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS/AP) — Authorities have identified the murder victim in a Chester County apartment fire.

District Attorney Tom Hogan says the body of the victim, identified as 17-year-old Kevin Allen, was removed from the residence in North Coventry Township after crews responded to a fire there. The blaze had broken out at the Hanover Gardens Apartments around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The blaze was quickly controlled and investigators found the body afterward.

Authorities say blood was smeared on the wall of the staircase leading to the second-story apartment.

The death has been ruled a homicide, but police aren’t saying how Allen was killed or if they have any suspects.

Investigators said Allen was from Norristown.
