Philadelphia Boys Choir Has New Home At Broad And Spring Garden

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia Boys Choir has a new home and officials will be rolling up their sleeves and moving in this Friday, February 1st. A formal ribbon cutting is planned for the spring.
Anne Hagen, executive director of the Philadelphia Boys Choir, says she is thrilled with the prospect of moving into the former headquarters building of Philadelphia FOP Lodge 5, at Broad and Spring Garden Streets.
"It's at the northern corner of the Avenue of the Arts, so we're very excited to be a part of that part of the city," she tells KYW Newsradio.
Hagen says they paid $1.9 million for the building and are now are able to offer so much more because of its 18,000-square-foot interior.
"We are starting a vocal conservatory so people can take private voice lessons, piano lessons, summer camps for kids ages 7 though high school," she says, "and that is something that is new for us. And also, of course, our boys' choir and girls' choir."
In addition, there is a large room upstairs with a full catering kitchen, which Hagen says will be the site of choir events. And others can rent the space for their private events, she adds.
"We're a center city location without a center city price tag!" she says.
