PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — With two players coming into the Philadelphia Union via the MLS Superdraft, and Freddy Adu apparently headed out, the KYW Philly Soccer Show is here to make sense of it for you.
KYW’s Greg Orlandini is joined this week by co-host Eli Pearlman-Storch and special guest Dan Walsh, both of the Philly Soccer Page.
The Union was without a first-round pick in this year’s draft, but picked up forward Don Anding from Northeastern University and midfielder Stephen Okai, out of the University of Mobile.
Okai is more a known quantity, having played for the Union affiliate Reading United.
Union coach John Hackworth drops in to the show, not only to talk about the draft but to address reports of the possible departure of Freddy Adu. Hackworth confirms that the midfielder will not be in the team’s training camp and is not in the Union’s plans.
The US International signed Adu to much fanfare in 2011, but his performance has disappointed.
