NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Patrick Lucas-Perry came off the bench to hit a late 3-pointer and two free throws, and Pennsylvania held on for a 54-53 victory over New Jersey Institute of Technology Thursday night.

The Quakers (3-13), who broke an eight-game losing streak, led 54-49 with 1:32 to play. But NJIT (9-9) drew within a point when Penn went scoreless over those final 92 seconds.

Lucas-Perry hit the second of his two treys, then two foul shots for the five-point lead which Penn nearly blew. NJIT got two free throws from Daquan Holiday, then two more from Chris Flores, who led the Highlanders with 22 points. That pulled them within 54-53 with 46 seconds left.

But Steve Rennard missed a late 3-pointer, and P.J. Miller a drive with three seconds left.

Miles Cartwright and Darien Nelson-Henry led Penn with 12 points each. Ryan Woods and Holiday scored 10 apiece for NJIT.
