Storm Developing In Our Area

By Steve Strouss

We have been keeping an eye on a developing storm tonight which has prompted Winter Storm Watches across southern portions of our viewing area. An area of low pressure will ride up along a stalled front on Thursday as colder air digs in from the north. We'll see plenty of clouds during the day in Philadelphia but the storm will have a difficult time spreading moisture this far north.

Any precipitation that does develop should be suppressed to southern and coastal New Jersey and central and southern Delaware.

The latest models are now backing down on Thursday night's event by keeping the system in the Carolinas then quickly moving it out to sea, but we will continue to watch the pattern and update our forecast. One thing is for sure and that is the sun will return on Friday along with colder air.

Temperatures on Friday will not get out of the 30s. A reinforcing shot of Arctic air will arrive early next week and that will bring the coldest temperatures of the season. Wind Chills next week could be in the single digits or teens!
