Jurors To Resume Deliberations In Philly Mob Trial

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A federal jury is entering its sixth day of deliberations in the racketeering trial of the reputed boss of the Philadelphia mob and six others.

On Monday, jurors asked to listen to more secretly recorded tapes of the defendants. Deliberations are expected to resume Tuesday.

Seventy-three-year-old Joseph "Uncle Joe" Ligambi could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted of all charges. Prosecutors say he's run La Cosa Nostra in the Philadelphia area since 1999.

The defendants are accused of strong-arming rivals to take over the operation of lucrative video poker machines in bars and clubs. They're also charged with taking sports bets, loaning out money on the street at high rates of interest, and threatening people over their payments.

Defense attorneys call the charges overblown.
