Elderly Woman Injured In Multi-Vehicle Accident In Montgomery County

LOWER POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – An elderly woman was injured in an accident involving a school bus in Montgomery County on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at 8:54 a.m. at the intersection of Buchert Road and Kepler Road and involved three vehicles, including a school bus from the Pottsgrove School District. The bus didn't have any students on board at the time of the crash.

The 58-year-old driver of the bus was heading eastbound on Buchert Road. As the bus entered the intersection, a Ford Explorer driven by Marvin Yerger, 85, of Pottstown, entered the intersection and was struck broadside. The impact caused both vehicles to veer onto the south side of the intersection, where they hit a Honda CRV driven by 41-year-old Debbie Interante that was stopped at the opposite side of the intersection.

As a result of the crash, a passenger in the SUV, 85-year-old Lillian Yerger, was trapped in the wreckage and sustained multiple injuries. She was transported to the Reading Hospital trauma center for treatment.

There is no word on her condition, but officials say she wasn't wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Interante, the driver of the Honda CRV, was treated on-scene for general complaints of pain, but there were no other injuries.
