FOLCROFT, Pa. (CBS) – Officials are investigating the cause of a fire that started in a car and then spread to a Delaware County home early Friday morning.
The fire started at about 2:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Grant Road in the Folcroft neighborhood.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire initially started under a car and then spread to a home that was only steps away.
“I looked out my back window and I saw a little fire underneath the car and the next thing you know, the whole thing (house) went up,” neighbor Grace Ruane explained.
Fire investigators have not ruled out arson as the cause of the fire.
“It’s possibly vandalism, but we’re not sure as this stage yet,” Chief Tom Weber of the Folcroft Fire Company said.
There were no reports of any injuries. The home, however, did sustain heavy damage.
The official cause of the fire remains under investigation.
