PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It is the game that college football fans have been waiting all season for as #1 Notre Dame and #2 Alabama meet tonight in Miami in the BCS Championship Game.
These are two of the most storied programs in college football history. But while this is an opportunity for Alabama to win a third national championship in four seasons, Notre Dame will be looking to win the title for the first time since the 1988 campaign.
You have to expect points will be at a premium in this one. Notre Dame comes in having allowed just 10.3 points a game, Alabama surrenders just 10.7 a contest.
These two programs haven’t met since the 1987 season when it was Notre Dame rolling to an easy 37-6 win over the Crimson Tide in South Bend.
KYW’s Matt Leon spoke with Joe Juliano of the Philadelphia Inquirer to talk about the match-up and get a feel for what to expect.
