CHADDSFORD, PA (CBS) – Police say 31 year-old Michael Epp of Chaddsford, PA, burglarized a home on the 2600 block of Century Lane in Concord Township, Delaware County Wednesday around lunch time. They say Epp frequently bikes between his home and his parents using a cut-through on Century Lane. Police say that a neighbor witnessed a blue bike in front of the home that was burglarized and texted the residents of the home who were not home at the time. The homeowner called Pennsylvania State Police Media to report this and upon their arrival to the home, they found that 2 sterling silver rings, 2 gift card envelopes-each containing $25 gift cards, a $50 gift card, and 1lb. of American cheese had been taken.
Since Epp is known to bike between this property and another to get to his parent’s house, and witnesses allegedly recognized his bike, police searched the area near his home and say they found evidence in a dumpster outside his apartment from the burglary. They obtained a search warrant for Epp’s apartment where they found the cheese in a Ziploc bag in his refrigerator. Police say Epp confessed to entering the victim’s residence and taking the items mentioned. They say he sold the jewelry at a pawn shop in Delaware. Epp was arraigned and is currently lodged in DCP in lieu of $5,000 bail (10%).
