PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation has made a list of the five biggest weekends of 2012.
Meryl Levitz with the GPTMC says Philadelphia had over 96% hotel occupancy the weekend of March 30th through April 1st when Bruce Springsteen played two sold-out shows at the Wells Fargo Center.
“The number one weekend we have dubbed Glory Days in South Philly,” Levitz says. “It was two sell-outs at the Wells Fargo Center, the opening of Xfinity Live! in the former Spectrum spot, a good convention, and again, people coming for getaways.”
The number two weekend was in June with the Diabetes Association Convention, followed by the weekend of the Barnes opening in May and the weekend prior to the Fourth of July.
Rounding out the top five list was the Labor Day weekend with Jay-Z’s ‘Made in America’ concert.
