Police: Alcohol May Have Been Involved In Fatal Delaware Crash
DOVER, Del. (CBS) – State Troopers in Delaware are investigating a fatal crash that happened on South State Street on Christmas Eve.
The incident happened around 6:34 p.m., when a vehicle driven by Angela L. Francisco, a 38-year-old Dover woman, skidded in a counterclockwise direction and struck another car.
Francisco, who wasn't restrained during the crash, was transported to Kent General Hospital before being flown to Christiana Hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition.
The other driver, identified as David L. Martin, a 63-year-old Magnolia man, was wearing his seatbelt and was admitted to Kent General Hospital in serious condition. The passenger in his vehicle, Carol Y. Reppond, a 54-year-old female from Magnolia, wasn't properly restrained. She was pronounced dead at Kent General.
The crash remains under investigation, but a preliminary investigation suggests Francisco may have been drinking alcohol before the incident.
The road was closed for approximately three hours while crews cleared the crash.
