Police: Body Pulled From Delaware River Was Woman Who Went For A Smoke

By Kim Glovas

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- Bensalem Township police confirmed this afternoon that the body of a woman pulled from the Delaware River this morning is that of a woman who went missing last night.

Pat Ponticelli, of the township public safety department, says 73-year-old Jean Carson was at a house party on Haunted Lane, just off of Route 13, last night.  He said she went outside for a cigarette between 9:30 and 10pm and was never seen again.

Police speculate that Carson fell into Neshaminy Creek, which runs behind the home and was at high tide at the time of her disappearance.

Her body was pulled from the Delaware River on the Burlington County, NJ side, about 11:00 this morning.
