PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A Philadelphia police officer is in the hospital after colliding with a vehicle Tuesday night.

The accident happened in the 2200 block of Bleigh Avenue a little before 8 p.m. Investigators say the officer was driving eastbound on Bleigh Avenue when it rear ended a gray Chrysler New Yorker that turned in front of the officer’s vehicle.

The officer was taken to Aria Health’s Torresdale campus. She is listed in stable condition and is expected to be treated and released.

The female driver of the Chrysler was arrested and is suspected of driving under the influence.

An investigation is underway.
