BALTIMORE (AP) — Carl Jones scored 15 points to lead four players in double figures as Saint Joseph’s beat Coppin State 67-55 Tuesday night in a nonconference affair.
Langston Galloway and C.J. Aiken finished with 14 points apiece and Chris Wilson chipped in with 10 for Saint Joseph’s (5-2).
After outshooting the Hawks in the first half to take a 31-30 lead into halftime, Coppin State (1-7) shot just 28.6 percent (10 for 35) in the second half as Saint Joseph’s ran away with the game.
Tied at 42 with 13:34 left to play, the Hawks outscored the Eagles 20-9 over a 10-minute span to take a 62-51 lead with 3:45 remaining.
Coppin State was never able to cut the deficit under 10, as Saint Joseph’s hit free throws down the stretch to close out the Eagles.
Michael Murray finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead Coppin State.
