Fatal Accident Causes Power Outages In Montgomery County

PLYMOUTH TWP., Pa. (CBS) – Officials in Plymouth Township are investigating a fatal accident that occurred Friday morning.

According to police, a red dump truck overturned and slid along the highway at the intersection of Ridge Pike and Alan Wood Road around 11 a.m.

The driver of the truck was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital where he was later pronounced.

Officials say that a utility pole shattered due to the accident causing power, cable and phone outages to residences and businesses on Ridge Pike.

Traffic along the highway is restricted while PECO crews repair the damaged utility pole.

The Plymouth Township Police Department Highway Patrol Unit is still investigating.
