PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Sugarhouse Casino is again throwing the parties for the city of Philadelphia on New Year’s Eve, sponsoring back-to-back fireworks displays on the Delaware River waterfront.
Today, as photographers squinted into the sun, facing the Benjamin Franklin Bridge from the rear deck of the casino, a brief daytime fireworks display provided a taste of what’s to come on New Year’s Eve.
Inside, as guests enjoyed Mummers’ music for the announcement, Sugarhouse general manager Wendy Hamilton (below) said the casino is hosting several events to welcome the New Year.
“On New Year’s Eve we’ve got a dance party all night long,” she said. “It’s a good idea to get your tickets in advance, because they do sell out.” Tickets are $65 each.

Or, guests of all ages can enjoy the free celebration outside, on Sugarhouse’s riverfront walking path, to catch both the 6pm and 12 midnight fireworks shows. KYW Newsradio will broadcast the music, synchronized to the fireworks, so you’ll be able to hear the music from no matter where you’re watching along the river.
On New Year’s Day, Sugarhouse is a sponsor of Philadelphia’s iconic Mummers’ Parade.
