FALLS TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) - It was right inside a Bucks County Barnes and Noble, in the court at Oxford Valley, where police say a man grabbed an 11-year-old girl from behind and inappropriately touched her as other customers were nearby.
“It’s a wide open area, a bunch of people around. It’s definitely a bold move, but it makes me sick to know these people are out there,” Fairless Hills resident Matt Wendell said.
The little girl was shopping with her parents at around 7 at night.
The man in the surveillance video can be seen walking around the restroom looking for a target, according to Falls Township police.
For moms like Darletta Berry- Johnson who has a 13-year-old daughter, what happened here at this Barnes and Noble Sunday night serves as a reminder for parents to always use caution.
“We are in Bucks County. We think we are safe. We are not in Philadelphia, we’re not in areas like Trenton, New Jersey where we think things are happening,” Johnson said.
The 11-year-old girl let out a quick scream when he grabbed her.
That was enough to scare him off and send him running out of the store on Commerce Boulevard.
“[The] area right here is right next to the children’s book area. She was right in that area of the bathroom,” Falls Twp. Police Lt. Henry Ward said.
Right now investigators believe this was an isolated case. They are hoping someone will recognize the suspect and contact them immediately. Barnes and Noble had
no comment.
