PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Thanksgiving Eve is known in the bar industry to be a big night out. In fact, some Old City bar managers say the Wednesday before Thanksgiving can be as crowded or even more crowded than a typical Saturday night.
“I think a lot of people come back. All the old high school friends, they want to enjoy and see each other obviously. All the high school games the next morning, so people want to come out and party, kind of let loose and party, reacclimate themselves with the Philly area.”
And the managers say they staff their establishments accordingly, to suit the anticipated crowds.
(Kuznits): “How does Thanksgiving Eve compare to a regular Wednesday?”
“Oh, it’s so much more busy.”
“We see bar business increase ten-fold.”
“Regular Wednesday, they have their moments, but Thanksgiving Eve, it’s just a million more people are out! It looks like a weekend pretty much.”
“Guests that come in, they want to dance, they want to party, they want to enjoy their night before they gorge the next day for the Turkey day.”
