PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The homeless advocacy organization “Project HOME” broke ground Tuesday on 55 new units of low-income housing on Fairmount Avenue near Broad Street. The new development is called JBJ Soul homes.

“Please join me in welcoming the founder and the chairman of the board of the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, our friend, Jon Bon Jovi,” said Project HOME co-founder Sister Mary Scullion, introducing the chief funder of the four-story, mixed use building that will be built on a triangle-shaped lot between Fairmount, Ridge Avenue, and 15th St.

Bon Jovi runs his own charitable enterprises but he’s a big supporter of Project HOME.
“Our day is a little brighter when we’re in the company of Sister Mary and Joan and all the good works they have done in the past and will continue to do in the future,” he said.

Bon Jovi says he shares their goal of ending homelessness and thinks JBJ Soul homes is a step in that direction.

“I hope that what will happen here is that somebody in those homes will go out and just, pay it forward.”
