Deadline Set For NJ Residents To Apply For Disaster Unemployment Assistance

TRENTON, NJ (CBS) – Gov. Christie and FEMA announced on Friday that New Jersey residents will now have until Feb. 4, 2013 to apply for coverage under the federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance program.

The deadline applies to all 21 counties in the state, and the program covers those who were left unemployed as a direct result of the storm and who may not be covered by regular Unemployment Insurance.

However, most workers who were impacted may already qualify for regular Unemployment Insurance, so residents are being asked to first file a regular claim for Unemployment Insurance.

New Jersey residents can file a claim by going to www.njuifile.net, or by calling the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development's Re-employment Call Centers:

North Jersey (201) 601-4100
Central Jersey (732) 761-2020
South Jersey (856) 507-2340
Out of State (888) 795-6672
