Phillies Decline Option On Placido Polanco
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Phillies have declined their $5.5 million contract option for the 2013 season for Placido Polanco. The option year was a mutual one, meaning either side could nullify the contract year.
Polanco's production, and playing time, has declined due to injury in his most recent three-year stint with the Phillies. He hit .257 with 2 home runs, 19 RBIs and an OPS of .629 in 90 games during the 2011 season.
