REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (CBS) – Governor Jack Markell shared the latest on how Hurricane Sandy is affecting the state during an afternoon press conference in Rehoboth Beach.

According to Gov. Markell, there are about 6,600 power outages statewide, with that number expected to rise.

The number of people using shelters in Delaware is currently at 650, with that number also expected to increase as the storm continues to move in.

While 300 Delaware National Guard troops are available and more can be activated if necessary, the Governor had a message for residents: "Hunker down" inside until the worst is over.
